Michał Białkowski

Attorney Michał Białkowski is a graduate of the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań.

He has gained experience in the provision of legal services since 2009 at leading law firms of attorneys and counsels in Poznań. He also completed an internship at the office of a German lawyer in Löcknitz. In November 2012, he started working with attorney Zbigniew Barwina. In 2013-2015, he completed his legal training under the patronage of attorney Zbigniew Barwina.

He specialises in civil, local government and medical law.

He has extensive experience in providing legal services to businesses in the construction, vending and machinery sectors. He is involved in numerous disputes arising from the performance of contracts in professional business and contracts concluded under the public procurement law regime. His previous litigation experience also allows him to effectively support entrepreneurs at the contract drafting and negotiation stage.

In providing legal services to local government units, he is responsible for providing opinions on local law acts and the legal security of contracts concluded by public entities. He also supports local government organisational units in employment disputes and in proceedings before administrative courts.

He represents both patients and healthcare providers in so-called medical disputes. He handles cases involving medical errors or hospital-acquired infections not only before the ordinary courts, but also before the doctors’ professional liability authorities and the provincial medical incident commissions.

Attorney Michał Białkowski also conducts court proceedings in matters relating to property law (including settlement of expenditure on real estate, establishing an easement, abolition of co-ownership, or adverse possession) or inheritance law (including compulsory share or division of inheritance).

Doctor of Laws. He defended his doctoral dissertation, Compensation for Medical Damage, in January 2018 at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Adam Mickiewicz University of Poznań. Since October 2018, he has been an assistant professor at the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Szczecin, where he teaches students about contract law, patient rights or civil procedure. His main area of research remains civil law and procedure with a particular focus on liability for damages and the issue of non-performance and improper performance of obligations under reciprocal contracts. His work has been published in renowned Polish and foreign periodicals.

He is fluent in English and communicates efficiently in German.
